Why I Wrote Carbonwashed: A Clear-Eyed Look at the Climate Crisis and How We’ve Been Misled
Hey everyone,
I want to share something deeply important with you—something that’s been on my mind and heart for years. It’s about the climate crisis, yes, but more than that, it’s about how the story we’ve been told about this crisis is often misleading, sometimes downright manipulated, and why that matters for all of us.
I wrote Carbonwashed: The Climate Crisis Hijacked because I realized something crucial: the climate emergency is real. There’s no doubt about that. But the way it’s being talked about, framed, and “sold” to us often hides the deeper truths and the real drivers behind what’s happening. Too often, the conversation gets stuck in “greenwashed” narratives—those half-truths and convenient stories that make us feel like buying a reusable straw or switching to LED bulbs is enough to save the planet.
That’s simply not true.
The crisis is systemic. It’s embedded in huge industries—fossil fuels, industrial agriculture, global trade—that continue business as usual while putting out feel-good campaigns and fancy “net zero” promises. The problem isn’t just about individual choices, although they matter. It’s about power, politics, money, and who really gets to decide the future.
Carbonwashed pulls back the curtain on this manipulation. It digs into how corporations and governments have hijacked the climate conversation to protect themselves, often at the expense of meaningful change. It exposes greenwashing, the billionaire “fixes” that mostly enrich the rich, and the ways ordinary people get blamed for a crisis they didn’t cause.
Why does this matter?
Because if we don’t understand who’s responsible and what real solutions look like, we waste time and energy on distractions. And time is the one thing we cannot afford to lose.
But I didn’t write this book to leave you feeling hopeless. Far from it. It’s about cutting through the noise to find clarity—so that we can act wisely, courageously, and collectively. The truth, as tough as it can be, is liberating. It’s the first step toward real change.
In this community, I know many of you want more than slogans and easy fixes. You want honest, practical insight into what’s going on and what we can do. That’s exactly what this book offers—a guide to seeing the machinery behind the curtain, understanding the stakes, and choosing action that counts.
I wrote Carbonwashed because I believe we deserve to know the truth—not the sanitized, corporate-friendly version. Because I believe real power lies in informed people who refuse to be manipulated or silenced. Because I believe the future depends on us demanding more than empty words.
If you’ve ever felt frustrated with the climate conversation, overwhelmed by conflicting information, or unsure where to put your energy, this book is for you. It’s a roadmap to lucidity in a confusing world.
I hope Carbonwashed will help us all step out of the fog, see clearly, and act together. Because the planet isn’t waiting—and neither should we.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
With clarity and hope,
Aurel
This is old news: greenwashing has been talked about since 2010.
It’s the way they charge for plastic bags in supermarkets when everything else is wrapped in plastic. Amongst other money making ‘climate saving’ solutions..
